Methodology

Last updated: May 17, 2026

Transparency is core to SkinFinds. This page explains how we collect data, analyse ingredients, and present product comparisons. No black boxes, no hidden scores.

1. Data Collection

We source product information from Amazon.in listings, official brand websites, and product packaging. Key data points include:

  • Product name, brand, and variant (size, shade)
  • Price and unit size
  • Full ingredient list and key active ingredients
  • Target skin concerns (acne, pigmentation, hydration, etc.)
  • Skin type suitability (oily, dry, combination, sensitive)
  • Category (skincare, haircare, makeup, bodycare)

We update our database regularly. Prices on SkinFinds are indicative -- always confirm the current price on Amazon.in before purchasing.

2. Ingredient Analysis

Ingredients are the foundation of our comparisons. We tag each product with its key active ingredients (e.g. niacinamide, salicylic acid, retinol, vitamin C, hyaluronic acid) and map them to the skin concerns they address. Our Ingredients Wiki explains what each ingredient does and which products contain it.

3. How We Rank Products

Default sort order on category, concern, and comparison pages considers:

  • Ingredient relevance -- products with clinically-backed actives for the target concern rank higher.
  • Price & value -- price-per-unit is calculated so you can compare across different sizes fairly.
  • Brand reputation -- established brands with dermatologist backing tend to rank higher when other factors are equal.

You can always re-sort and filter by price, ingredient, skin type, or concern using the filters on each page. We provide the data -- you decide what matters most.

4. What We Don't Do

  • We do not accept payment from brands for higher placement or better scores.
  • We do not let affiliate commissions influence rankings. Every product links to Amazon.in equally.
  • We do not provide medical or dermatological advice. SkinFinds is a comparison tool, not a substitute for professional guidance.

5. Blog & Editorial Content

Our blog posts are written with the same data-first approach. Product picks in articles are based on ingredient quality and value -- not sponsorships. When we link to a product, it is always an affiliate link, which we disclose on our Affiliate Disclosure page.

6. Corrections & Feedback

Found an error in our data? A product that's discontinued or mispriced? Let us know via our Contact page and we'll fix it promptly.
